Facebook began its life as social network for students now with over 34 million members facebook is everywhere. Despite this most of the members will spot a blatent ad anywhere. It is vital to learn the basics before you start using the website as a marketing tool.
1. Create your profile.
Sign up usie your name not an alias and amend your profile.
Uploading a profile picture is a must. If no picture is uploaded you will be given the default image and it does`nt look good. Don’t use pictures of you in a group also do not you logos or pet photos.
2. Make new friends.
Facebook can search through your gmail, hotmail and yahoo email addresses to see if any of your friends are already registered. Once you start to get a few friends on board you will start to recieve requests. Do a search and send out friend requests and try and build up a community of around 200 people.
3. Upload your pictures and your videos.
Start uploading some pictures and create albumns peopel like looking at photos try to upload regulary People will keep coming back to your profile to see the new picturs.
Upload some random videos and tag them to your friends. You also have the option to add a watermark to your videos later on.
4. Start Joining groups.
There lots of groups on facebook. Search for groups relative to your chosen subject and join them. You will be able to give and recieve advice then form other group members. This will help build up your reputation as well.
5. Send notes and share links.
Send notes and links to your network of friends. Dont send a chain letter though most people on facebook hate them.
6. Visit your homepage everyday.
Dont just visit your profile daily but your facebook homepage as well. Hereyou will find out all the things your friends are doing and what is being posted. It`s a great way of keeping up with your network.
Facebook is growing daily and as time goes on more and more marketers are trying to get a foothold on all the potential business there is to be had on facebook. If your not registered then do it today and get your foot in the door dont be left behind.
