But how do you go about getting people to comment on your blog. I have listed a few tips here that will get you on the right road to more blog comments.
Ask People To Comment
One of the simplest ways is to just ask them to leave a comment what have you got to lose. So go ahead and leave us a comment once you have read this post after all you get a free link back to your blog.
Ask For Help
Another way of getting comments is to post questions, you might want help deciding what new colour to use in your logo or you might want to know what your readers like to read about.
Give them a chance to self promote
Tell people you are building a resource list and ask if they could contribute any relevant sites, even ones that they own.
Ask them to complete an action
For example, you say you’re writing a report about seven most common gardening problems but you’ve found only four. Tell them to come up with the other three and the ones chosen to be included in your report will get credit on your report.
Ask for opinions
Ask them for their opinions on products and services you have reviewed on our blog and allow both the positive and the negative this earns you credibility.
Comment Subscriptions
Let them sign up to receive emails when someone replies to their comments.
Freebies
Offer them freebies for commenting on your blog.
These are just a few of the many ways you can encourage people to comment on your blog. Don’t expect to see results immediately but just keep persisting and your efforts will be rewarded.
So go ahead and leave us a comment now.

Nice post. I was just reading about a plugin that actually sends a thank you note to commenters but it seems to have a couple of flaws. I thought that would be nice to bring them back to comment more. Nice list. I’m seeing a lot of comments when I run a contest. You covered that with offering them freebies for commenting.

For me, I notice I get more comments left on the topics that have been in the news or been buzzing throughout the internet. But for the most part, my readers are pretty quiet.

I believe that by adding an option to notify the commenter with the follow-up response would be a nice way to get them to come back for more.
As blog commenting has become a daily thing to do, it’s pretty hard to remember on which blogs you have left your comments. To me, it’s not very a nice thing to just drop a comment and forget about it altogether.
Just my thought..

Great article. After reading this I came up with one more idea. I created a page on my blog for the purpose of linking to those who comment on my blog. Now people who leave a relevant comment get two links. This page also encourages people to comment.

I think the best way to do it is to simply outright ask a question. I’m more enticed to say something if I’ve been directly asked. Generally, ‘giving’ me anything won’t really inspire me, but I do like to give an opinion if I feel someone wants to read it.
