Today we have an interview with Max Lee owner of Sitehoppin.com the fast growing site that allows you to hop between websites and vote for them with beers. It is also a great website for users of Entrecard.com that want to drop their entrecards. So why not read his interview and then pop over to Sitehoppin.com and take a look.
Introduce yourself who is Max Lee.
Hi, my full name is Jung ‘Max’ Lee. I am a Korean American who grew up most of my life in the San Francisco Bay Area. I run a network of blogs and social networking sites out of my home in San Francisco. I like to go golf, work out, and go to the beach on my free time. I am a pretty down to earth guy and drink more than your regular Joe. You can check out my blog over at http://SiteHoppin.com/blog for some entertaining news and what I’ve been cooking/drinking lately.
What made you think of Site Hoppin.
Well, it’s on the About page but in short, I wanted to make a website where users will be able to “automatically” surf the web without clicking or typing. Basically, I wanted to put the internet on TV, so people can “site-surf” instead of “channel-surfing”. How cool would it be if you could “watch” the web just like you “watch” TV? There’s a lot of auto-surfing sites that have been around for years but none of them actually let you surf interesting sites, just advertisers’ sites. That’s one thing we’ve changed by letting the users decide and vote on the most interesting sites with beer ratings.
What are your future plans for the website.
Well, my goal is to build a website and a multi-million dollar company, all funded by internet users and ran by people working from home.
I think the power of internet has still not been fully utilized by companies and individuals. That’s why SiteHoppin is trying this new Venture Capital called, “Internet User Venture Capital”, where “any” internet user can invest in the growth of a company.
On another note, I’ve worked with many programmers, designers, and bloggers from U.K., India, Malaysia, U.S., and other countries, which makes things a lot more fun with people from all over the world, working from their home. I want to have SiteHoppin run by people who work from home, not by people who have to go to offices everyday. People shouldn’t have to waste 1-2 hours of their day travelling to work, wasting precious gas and creating pollution. People should be able to be more efficient and also save earth by working from home. My future plan is to rent out couple of high-rise apartments where people can sleep, work, and play without having to take any transportation to work. (I believe Apple is allowing some of their employees to do this actually, no wonder they are on top!)
What other websites do you run.
Zedomax.com is primarily my tech blog that got me on the internet train, which I still write daily. I also manage sites like Keetsa Blog, an eco-friendly and green blog, Bedzine, an online Bed Blog, Sleepzine, an online Sleep Blog, Mattresszine, an online Mattress Blog. I did start all of them up initially and blogged on there but now I simply manage the writers and do the background technical stuff to make sure they are running smoothly.
I do have some other cool wiki sites like OneBuckWiki.com, an idea spun off the MillionDollarWiki.com. Then again, SiteHoppin.com is an idea spun off StumbleUpon, Del.icio.us, Entrecard, and OneBuckWiki.com.
I have some more fun little sites, but since I don’t want to bore you all, you can find most of them at Zedomax.Net.
What one bit of advice would you give to some one just starting out with a website.
I would say to focus on your passions and what you like to write about the most if you are going to start a blog. Choosing a niche topic and networking with other bloggers in that niche topic would probably be the most important step during the beginning phases. For me, it was beer and love for finding new sites, so I created SiteHoppin, a place where you can go with a beer in your hand and surf the web without endangering yourself to hand arthritis.
What do you think of the Generalmarketingblog.com
I think General Marketing Blog has a potential to be a big winner. It’s very unique and not like all the other marketing blogs out there. I like how David tries different methods of making money instead of simply listening to other guys who’ve already made it. I am very surprised at how much David is making with his blog on monthly basis, he is making almost as much as some of my other blogs with 5 times more traffic. He definitely has that killer sniper’s method as far as marketing the General Marketing Blog. As the blog grows, he could be the next big Internet Marketing guru, if he isn’t one already.

Nice interview with one of my Internet heroes. I’d love to be one of his stay at home co-workers! I own onebuckwiki pages and beer stocks and encourage everyone to do the same. Just like when General Don’t delay supporting Zedomax to a point where it will cost you more than a few beers to own part of the company. And good luck on building General Marketing Blog. From my first glance at your site I’ve been impressed with the layout and feel, and of course the content!
