My friend sent me an invitation of eSwarm and I found the site interesting; and so I thought why not ProBlogineer readers get familiar about it (if they are not still
)
eSwarm is the latest innovation in online social media, and is a straightforward and easy to use technology that allows like-minded people to connect and communicate in the real time, and get involved in conversations about anything from world events to local politics.
eSwarm makes it easy for anyone to start up new conversations or join existing ones, and you can search for topics by keywords or simply go to the homepage and scan the category titles listed to see if there are any you are interested in browsing, including popular issues such as art and literature, food and drink and places and travel. It is easy to join the eSwarm community, and all you need to do is create an account by providing just a few details, and then you can get posting straight away.
The main benefit to eSwarm is that all of the topics discussed are important and relevant and users are encourage to generate meaningful posts by engaging in ongoing debates and conversations or setting up new ones, and this is quite different to many other social media sites which focus instead on ‘status updates’, and so contain a lot of useless ‘babble’ about what a person had for breakfast or what time they got to work.
Recently in eSwarm I have been involved in several interesting conversations, but the one that most interested me was about health care and insurance, a subject very much in the public eye at the moment due to talk of upcoming and long awaited reforms in the American Health Care Service. It was very revealing to see what other people were saying about their experiences with health care and insurance, and in many cases how it had let them down when they most needed it, and the general feeling of support for reform in the eSwarm conversation echoed very much my own feelings.
eSwarm offers a unique opportunity for users to speak with other intelligent, thoughtful people about issues that are close to their hearts, and joining conversations and reading other peoples thoughts and feelings can really give you a sense of perspective, and offer you new insight into a number of different issues.
