I see lots of contests going on regularly on various blogs including JohnChow, Shoemoney and more. Nowadays MarketLeverage seems the big sponsor of these contests and they created a lot of buzz with blog contests. You can check out current contest on TylerCruz.com too for the latest MarketLeverage sponsored contest.
Blog Contests would be great for both sponsors, blog owners and particpants :
- Sponsor build buzz and traffic
- Blog Owner also builds buzz, traffic and might be a share of prize
- Participants or readers can win cool prizes.
So what does ProBlogineer’s readers think – Should I also start one more blog contest ? Any idea on how should we proceed – no I don’t want similar blog contests, something new would be great.

In order to find sponsors to your contest you should start writing emails! Write something very descriptive, what do you want, what the sponsors get, how can you win the contest…. Everything! I start sending a couple of emails and now I’m holding a contest with more than $2000 in prizes! So you can imagine how effective it is

unless you have your own source / money to do it.
I saw some contest giving out $50 after a month’s contest
and every were quite hardcore to earn it

I think contests are fine, but I’m somewhat mixed because I like good prizes, and I also know that there’s a dollar amount that, depending on where you are, you have to watch out for. I can’t remember whose blog I read that talked about the latter. With your ranking, you’re probably getting enough visitors to have a good one; looking forward to it.
