Flickr is now the most popular photo sharing website on the Internet today. Millions of photos are uploaded every week and with over 5 million visitors a month their is also scope for gaining web traffic from Flickr as i will explain shortly.

We have decided to start a Flickr challenge, can we get one million photos added to our new group and if so how quickly can we do it. Its a massive challenge but it is possible. If you want to take part then come and join the One million challenge group.

If you are already a member of Flickr then we would appreciate you telling your friends about this challenge, we have a long way to go.

Using Flickr to gain traffic.

Flickr allows you to have a profile and the URL of your website. Use this to promote your website and your products. Upload your company logo as your icon to further brand yourself on Flickr.

Take some photos these need to be of a good quality and watermark them with your URL but not every one you upload as you don’t want to be seen as a spammer. Write a good description about the photo you just uploaded and add your keywords to it.

Search for groups relating to your photo and join them before submitting your photo to the group this will gain you further exposure.

Use the Explore section of Flickr to browse photos that other members have added and add them to your favs people like favs on flickr more than comments.

If you get lucky and you have uploaded a great photo you might just be contacted by some online magazines asking if they can feature your photo in their upcoming edition and they nearly always give you a link back to your main website.
