The Top 10 Reasons to Create a Top 10 List
Posted by David Hobson | Posted in Lists | Posted on 06-08-2008
Many of the most popular posts on blogs and on sites such as Digg are Top 10 lists. If you choose your subject wisely and research it before making your post you are pretty much guaranteed a good response.
So what reasons could there possibly be to creating a good Top 10 list? I have come up with 10 that I think are the perfect reasons for starting one.
1. You gain expert status
2. People remember you. A good top 10 post will keep you in the minds of your readers.
3. A Top 10 list can lead to other projects.
4. They can become passive.
5. They can be made into a series.
6. They are easy to absorb.
7. They are easy to read.
8. They are really good marketing tools.
9. They can go viral.
10. Finally they are bloody addictive.
All in all a top 10 list can be about anything you want if it’s interesting it will succeed.

Oh I love the last point and yes, they are bloody addictive. Coincidentally, I was about to write a Top 10 list myself, actually it’s a Top 10 Reasons.
Interesting point of view, David.
